Tuesday thoughts

  • We took the boys to the new karate school yesterday.  Even though the Sensei seemed rather unfriendly, I liked the way he handled the class.  I liked the fact that I could see what they kids were doing.  That way I could help them at home too if I see they are battling with something.  It is also very convenient as the school is just a street away from our home.
  • Zander is cutting tooth number two.  Actually he has been for few days now.  I know some people are of the opinion that teething can’t hurt because it doesn’t hurt to get adult teeth.  Well…maybe I should take a photo of my son’s gums as it is right now.  It looks painful.  This of course means that we aren’t getting much sleep at the moment.  I feel extremely sleep deprived today.
  • I have a list of things that I feel one should have with you at all times:  Headache pills, flu meds, condoms, tampons, safety pins, plasters and your camera….okay…a bank card will help too.  When my friend Wenchy was here for the weekend, she needed something and I started packing out my “emergency kit” in my handbag.  She thought it extremely funny that moi – supermom (or the head girl as sometimes called by her and our friend Jax) – would actually carry condoms with me.  Even more that I’ll actually pack it out of the “kit” in the Wimpy lol
  • We got Quintus’s final school report yesterday.  Yeah to my little boy for passing Grade R.  Never thought that little kids like him had to pass anything before going into preschool.  However, the teacher wants us to take him to an education therapist because emotionally he takes things to seriously, which impacts on his work.  If he had a misunderstanding with his teacher (read – she had to reprimand him) then he will “close up” for the rest of the day and not be able to do most stuff.  Now if only I can find my cellphone (that I lose so often, I’m surprised I still have it) I could phone and make an appointment.
  • I might finally be able to use my domain www.supermom.co.za  A fellow South African blogger – Lensqueen – actually found a group of people that does this….oi to be so web challenged.

Zander I know your little mouth hurts:( I hate that you beautiful babies have to go through this thing called the teething process!! I hope it pops through soon and your not in anymore pain:)

  2. Candace Says:

It doesn’t hurt when you get adult teeth? I’m cutting one of my wisdom teeth and it’s hurting me ;) So I can feel for Zander. Hoping you get more sleep despite that little bugger.

  3. Candace Says:

and by bugger I mean the tooth, not Zander (heehee, just to clarify)

  4. Tammy Says:

Wenchy has obviously never heard about the boy scouts motto of always be prepared

  5. NMOTB Says:

Yay for Q passing GrR! Cant believe how the time flies!!!!! Dylan is also off to Grade 1. Oh those teeth are a real bugger! My handbag – won’t even go there! I have everything in mine except the kitchen sink! lol Hope you can get some sleep tonight! Enjoy the rest of your week!

  6. Amy Says:

ouch I remember those teething days, poor Zander and u!

  7. Stephanie Says:

Oh, poor little Zander. Teeth are NOT fun. I always feel so bad for babies who are teething or who are sick. It is so sad.

Your survival kit reminds me of my current purse vs my pre-kids purse. My pre-kids purse had my drivers ID, my bank card, some cash, one tampon, and one light pad. That was it. Now I carry a diaper bag with enough to cover both kids for a whole day. Like morphing from a size 8 to a size 16.

I agree with Tammy. Tell Wenchy to always be prepared!

  8. Lisanne Says:

Jeff always jokes with me that I carry a “mobile pharmacy.” Seriously, you never know when you’re going to be out and about and needing something!

  9. Wendy Tischler Thomas Says:

Poor Z!!!! Who says adult teeth don’t hurt?? I remember getting mine and they hurt, and then my wisdoms were impacted, so of course they hurt!

Q is about to start preschool? I’m confused a bit. LOL Grade R is like kindergarten, right?

I have so little in my purse. The only pills I have are Piper’s. I have her emergency meds, which I’ll likely never use. My keys, cell phone, a hair band of some sort, lip balm, my credit cards/license/necessary cards, a pen, and then some papers. That’s it. A kit the size you guys are talking of, I’d need a new purse!!! A bigger one. LOL As little as mine is now I constantly lose my keys in it. I can fit it into my glove box now if I wanted to. Oh, I have my camera in there right now as well.

  10. Cheryl Says:

I hope the boys do well at the new Karate school

Poor Zander – Jess has yet to cut teeth and she is 11 months.

I thought every mom carried a survival kit. What the heck would you need a condom for? I can understand latex gloves, but a condom??? – a smaller alternative?

Can you imagine what it is going to be like when our babies go to school, if children need to pass grade R. Way to go Q! I hope that you find a good OT.

What’s up with the domain? Not that I’d understand but didn’t know you were having issues. – Hope it gets sorted soon.

Friday is nearly here. I am so looking forward to meeting you & your family in person.

pleased the new karate club seems better
can u get something like teething gel to help poor Zander
Way to go Quintus my thoughts and prayers are with him

  12. ShutterJane Says:

Being prepared is not bad. I used to have blankets and stuff in my car. Could survive a snowstorm if i had to :)

  13. Joanne Says:

Ouch! Teeth coming in does hurt. Who are these people who say they don’t? Of course if one loses a tooth and the permanent grows in its place there is already a big hole in the gums for it to pop into place.

I like your motto, “Be prepared.”

  14. mrs. diamond Says:

aawww poor baby. i cut a wisdom tooth last year and it DID hurt!

  15. Susan Says:

Poor little Zander! People who think that teething don’t hurt babies are insane and must not live with a teething baby every day! Jax sends him a big hug from the US!

  16. Delane Says:

I hope things work out with the new karate school. I do think that the sensei makes all the difference, and there is a happy medium in there somewhere that’s hard to find. We were really lucky when we picked our school, because we just as easily could have picked one of the other ones around town, and from what I understand, they are like night and day from Jackson’s school. Jackson’s sensei is a 2 time world champion from New York that moved to our town to be somewhere more rural, so that he could raise horses. He is soooo good with the little kids, yet he really, really knows his stuff too, so they learn a lot.
