They need it too

Children need a holiday just as much as us adults. Not just to play, eat sweets and go to sleep late. They need more than that. They need to see and be with their parents when they are relaxed.

We spend so much time working. We get home tired and spend the little bit we have doing homework and getting dinner done. We are always rushing somewhere. Stressed about everything and anything. In a way I think our children experience us that way. I try my best to be relaxed when I’m with them. To spend quality time but they most probably see right through me.

When Tommie got here yesterday, Quintus went to sit next to him and held his hand. This is huge. Quintus never does that. I think Quintus being relaxed and super happy and Tommie being calm and just letting the kids be, allowed Quintus to feel he could open up to his dad. Show more affection.

We really need to take more breaks. Go away for more long weekends. Spend more time with our kids when we aren’t rushing somewhere. When we aren’t stressed out.

Yep. I can tell when we all need to just hang out together without an agenda. We try to say “yes” much more to the kids than “no”. Having fun together is a priceless investment of time. Hope all goes well.
