Super Mom

I couldn’t believe my eyes

This afternoon we drove home (later than normal) and took a road we don’t normally take.

It was pouring.

Something made me look at the parking area of a small convenience store and I couldn’t believe what I saw.  I still can’t.

A white bakkie stopped, the passenger (a blond teenage girl) got out and put a wet little dog on the side odd the road. In the rain and drove away! We immediately turned off and picked up the scared, wet Pekinese.

I so’wish I had taken the time to take the registration number of the bakkie. Or to follow them.
I think I was just too shocked! Who would do such a thing!?

We took him home and noticed that he is actually well taken care of. Recently shaved. Not overly hungry. He has such pretty eyes. Hazel, not brown.

I wonder what his story is. Who are the people that dropped him off next to the road? Why did they? Are they his real owners?

Tonight we will give him love and tomorrow we will try to piece together his story.

  1. What do Max and Bella think of him? I’m so glad you saw him and picked him up. What a very cruel thing to do to a dog! Really doesn’t make sense, though. I hope you can get to the bottom of it.

They did not think we were very funny when we brought him home! Steyn came to fetch him a while ago. They don’t have a male dog. So he will stay there till we can sort out the story

  3. Wait a second…a pekinese??? Tell me that this little dogs guardian angel didn’t tell the person driving the bakkie to STOP NOW because there were pekinese lovin’ folks watching *just at that moment* who would love him forever. That dog is *meant* for you guys. Horrible beginning – but seriously happy ending!!!!!

Well, I’m first going to try and find out if he wasn’t stolen or something and that he has people who really love him. If not, then our friends are taking him. Unfortunately my Pekinese male won’t tolerate another male. He is SO adorable though. Quintus was SO sad when our friends picked him up last night

I think it is terrible that this happened to him but I think the kid picked him up and took him home and the Dad didn’t want him so they went and dropped him off where she found him. That is all that I can think of. I hope you find his real owners Melany. He is such a sweet dog. To think the real owners could drop off a pekenise dog like him is just too much for me to comprehend so I would rather think it is my first suggestion

Wow, what a story… Really, sounds like you were in right place, right moment, to help. Pekinese dogs seem to have really a lot to do with your family!

I hope you will find real owners… these people in white bakkie don’t sound like taking care well for months before.
Even if in Poland often happens that people abandon dogs on the street/ parking/ forest after Xmas (when kids get bored with ‘new toy’ they got from Santa), or before summer holidays, when they think driving to the sea with dog is too complicated/ hotel doesn’t accept dogs…

    So glad you was there!!!

  8. That is sad, especially them leaving him in the rain. Now that’s just not humane :(
Luckily this little dog had people like you and your family, seeing him.
