Quintus is not the most athletic little boy out there but he has the heart of a winner. He believes that if he puts his heart to something, he can do it.
Last year he didn’t make it into the interhouse athletics team. This year he got in and was chosen to run the 80 meter hurdles.
I was so proud. That face when he got home to tell us he got in! Oh man…priceless. He looked forward to the race and couldn’t wait for the school athletics day.
First day it was to be held it rained out.
Second day – rained out
Third day, the time ran out.
So yesterday, finally (after even more rain) the school was forced to complete the hurdles.
IT WAS WET. I mean the kids were sliding all over the place. I felt so badly for the kids. So many of them fell even before going over the first hurdle.
I was scared that Quintus would fall. I knew how it would effect him emotionally if he had to fall and about 40 % of the kids fell.
My boy didn’t fall though. 🙂 He came 5th. He got to have his name written down. He was noticed. Even if it was just when his principal said “Hey! You made it” 🙂
To show how just how slippery it was….this should give you an idea.
